THE CONTAMINATION BY LEAD

Brass containing lead also at low content (0.5%) currently used in the production of faucets and valves, contaminates drinking water, as shown from result of studies reported in the diagram of Fig.1 below.
Lead accumulates in the human body and its toxicity becomes evident also at very low concentration in the blood: 80-100 µg/l. It is particularly dangerous for children whose psycho-physical growth can be compromitted.
For these reasons the standards in various countries are modified, about the maximum lead concentration allowed in drinking water to the value suggested by WHO of 10 µg/l.

THE Ruveco PROCESS
United States Patent
No. 6,284,053

The RUVECO Process allows the elimination of lead in a simple, effective and economic way from the surface of brass. The products treated by this process fulfill entirely the requirements of the new standards concerning the contamination of lead in drinking water.
The Process consists in the treatment of faucets and valves in a sequence of baths, especially formulated for the leaching of lead.
The industrial experience with the RUVECO Process has shown that the resulting lead release of treated products is always lower than 10 µg/l respecting suggested standards by WHO ( World Health Organization) - fig. 2.
RUVARIS transferred the Ruveco technology to La tecnogalvano S.r.l. that can make available to interested Companies:
